Beginning Therapy

A gentle first step into the work

Introduction

Beginning therapy can feel like a significant step.

Not because something is wrong with you, but because you are choosing to look more carefully at your inner world and the experiences that have shaped you.

For many people, reaching out to a therapist comes after a long period of reflection. There may be uncertainty about what the process involves or how the first conversation will unfold.

This page is simply here to offer some clarity about how we begin.

The Initial Consultation

All counselling work begins with a complimentary 30-minute online consultation.

This conversation is an opportunity for us to meet and explore what has brought you here.

You are welcome to share as much or as little as feels comfortable. Some people arrive with a clear sense of what they would like to explore. Others simply know that something within their life feels difficult or unresolved.

Both are completely welcome.

The consultation also allows you to sense whether the way I work feels supportive for you.

There is no obligation to continue.

The First Session

If we decide to begin working together, the first session allows us to move more gently into the process.

We may explore:

  • What brings you to therapy at this time
  • Aspects of your personal history that feel relevant
  • Patterns or experiences you would like to understand more deeply
  • What you hope the work may support over time

There is no expectation to share everything immediately. Therapy unfolds gradually and at a pace that respects your nervous system.

A Trauma-Informed Approach

My work is grounded in trauma-informed and somatic principles.

This means that safety, pacing and consent remain central throughout the process. Experiences are never forced into the open. Instead, we work together to create the conditions where reflection and insight can emerge naturally.

Somatic awareness allows us to include the body in the therapeutic process by noticing breath, sensation and shifts in regulation as they arise.

Frequency of Sessions

Most clients begin with weekly sessions, as consistency helps build a stable therapeutic relationship.

Over time, the rhythm of sessions may change depending on what feels supportive.

If You Are Unsure

It is completely natural to feel uncertain about beginning therapy.

The initial consultation is simply an opportunity to explore whether this work feels right for you.

Beginning therapy does not need to feel rushed. An initial conversation offers space to explore what you are seeking and whether working together feels supportive.

Astrology Consultation Form

Reflective Astrology

Thank you for your interest in an astrology consultation.

This short form gathers the information needed to prepare your natal chart and offers an opportunity to share what you would like the session to explore.

My approach to astrology is reflective rather than predictive, using the chart as a tool for insight, self-understanding and meaningful reflection.
